CaRMA-VA Charter Signing Ceremony
Background: During 2023 the H/PG Chamber committed to strengthening our relationship with local and state government including Fort Gregg-Adams. We had been actively participating in Fort Gregg-Adams Civilian Military Council (CMC) quarterly meetings and the Community Leadership (CLIF) briefings. We joined Prince George County in participating in the Strategic Planning Session for Fort Gregg-Adams and the communities that surround the installation, as well as attending Meet Your Military Day, the Fort Gregg-Adams redesignation ceremony, and we provided a community/chamber meeting for CASCOM Commander General Mark Simerly. We joined the Association of Defense Communities and attended our first Installation Innovation Forum in November, 2023 with Prince George County, Crater Planning District Commission, our Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, and Fort Gregg-Adams Garrison Commander. All of these activities strengthened our resolve to take the responsibility for standing up a Military Affairs Council similar to ones all over the country that provide for robust collaboration between the military and the communities outside the installations resulting in action on projects of mutual interest. This work culminated on Feb. 1 with the signing of the Charter for the Capitol Region Military Alliance-VA (CaRMA-VA), which will be housed for now at the HPG Chamber.
