2024 Tourism Committee Meeting

Expectations of Commitment:

  1. Meeting Schedule:
    • One-hour long meeting held virtually once per month.
    • Potentially in-person meetings quarterly at most, especially during events.
  2. Planning and Execution:
    • Develop a timeline and establish next steps for each selected idea.
    • Determine the necessary actions to sustain selected ideas and projects.
  3. Contribution to Marketing Materials:
    • Contribute to Teams Picture folder by uploading pictures suitable for promotional and marketing materials.
  4. Active Participation:
    • Members are expected to actively participate in discussions, contribute ideas, and support the implementation of agreed-upon initiatives.
  5. Attendance:
    • Attendance at monthly virtual meetings is crucial to maintaining momentum and ensuring progress.
Goals of Tourism Committee:
  1. Continued Collaboration on the 5 & Dime – Convoy on 5 & Dime:
    • Coordinate efforts to enhance the 5 & Dime experience, fostering collaboration among stakeholders.
  2. Hopewell Fall Community Event (Take the Place of Hooray for Hopewell):
    • Develop and execute plans for a compelling fall community event, considering the objectives of the former "Hooray for Hopewell" event.
  3. Hospitality & Tourism Week Initiative:
    • Explore and implement activities to celebrate Hospitality & Tourism Week, showcasing the importance of these sectors to our community.
  4. Brand Center Proposal: Connect RVA with Us via a River Boat Excursion:
    • Advance the proposal to connect RVA with our region through a captivating river boat excursion, highlighting the unique attractions and experiences.
  5. Brand Center Proposal: Create More Art with a Mural Project- Tourism Draw:
    • Develop plans for a mural project aimed at enhancing tourism appeal, adding vibrancy, and showcasing local artistry.
  6. Travel Packages:
    • Explore the creation of travel packages to attract visitors, highlighting the diverse offerings of our region.
  7. Press Tour Coordination:
    • Organize press tours to generate positive publicity, collaborating with the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) and media outlets.Expectations of Commitment:
